Coming Soon, the Research Capability Hub

An invitation to the launch of the Research Cabability Hub

We are excited to announce the launch of the ESRC-funded Research Capability Hub (RCH)! The event will take place on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at The Open University, Milton Keynes, with an option to join online via Microsoft Teams.

The Research Capability Hub has been created to strengthen research across UK Social Sciences by bringing together training opportunities, resources, and communities of practice. At the launch, we’ll share the Hub’s vision, highlight the work already underway, and invite the research community to help shape its next phase.

By joining us, you’ll get a first-hand look at the opportunities the RCH will offer and have the chance to share your priorities for training, collaboration, and future development.

Please note there are separate booking sites for in-person and online tickets, and there is a limited number of spaces to attend on the day.

Please choose how you would like to attend the launch:

If you have any questions or need assistance when registering, please contact rch-enquires@open.ac.uk.

About the Research
Capability Hub

The Research Capability Hub is a new, flexible way to build research skills for social scientists. Traditional training often relies on in-person workshops or one-size-fits-all online modules. These methods can be rigid, time-consuming, and out of step with the fast-changing needs of today’s researchers.

Our Hub offers a smarter solution. Powered by The Open University’s innovative technologies and PolicyWISE’s UK-wide engagement, we’re creating a personalised, scalable, and co-designed approach to research training.
